School is back in session. Somehow I forget every year how it only takes a day or two to feel like there was never a break at all. I can't say the same for my students, who still haven't settled down.
Today I actually resorted to the subtle guilt trip. All it takes is a slightly sad face and drooped shoulders, and they fall all over themselves (generally) to make it right and try to be the best students ever, really Mr. Sullivan, we're very interested and eager to learn.
I'd feel guilty, but December was a hell of a month and a hell of a way to close out 2011, and the guilt trip really only lasts the one day anyway. I just needed to feel like things were going as they should for a few periods.
Maybe Friday I'll try going to Simon's bar again, have another pint or two. Maybe drop Molly off at the club next door.
